Can anyone explain what smog is ?

The term Smog is derived by merging two words; smoke and fog.

Smog is a type of air pollutant. It is formed when pollution from internal combustion engines of vehicles, fumes from various Industries and plants react in the presence of sunlight.

Smog may also combine with primary emissions that result in the formation of Photochemical Smog.
