There is a growing need to spread and increase awareness among the consumers towards reducing environmental impact.

To achieve this, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) started a marking Scheme in 1991. Under this marking scheme, a certification mark is issued by BIS to products that confirm to a set of standards having least impact on the ecosystem and the environment.
