What is Biowaste?
Biowaste is also referred to as biodegradable waste.
In simple terms, biowaste can be defined as any waste material that is organic or that is capable of decomposing under:
- Aerobic conditions (In the presence of oxygen)
- Anaerobic conditions (In the absence of oxygen)
Some examples of biowaste are:
- Forestry and agricultural residues
- Animal waste
- Sewage sludge
- Commercial food waste
