What is gross metering?

Gross Metering or Gross Energy Metering is a billing arrangement wherein the consumer is compensated for the total amount of energy generated using renewable sources (such as solar or wind) at a fixed feed-in-tariff while having to pay the utility company at retail supply tariff for the energy consumed from the grid.
