The practice of producing vegetables, fruits, herbs, spices and medicinal plants in layers that are stacked on vertical or vertically inclined surfaces with the use of soil, hydroponic or aeroponic methods is referred to as Vertical Farming. This practice relies on the mix use of natural and artificial light.

Vertical farming can also be integrated on several types of vertical structures such as:

  • Buildings
  • Skyscrapers
  • Columns of Bridges
  • Used Warehouses
  • Old Shipping Containers
