Particulate Matter is one of the most common Air Pollutants. It is usually denoted as:

  • PM2.5 – Particulate Matter that are generally 2.5 micrometers and smaller.
  • PM10 – Particulate Matter that are generally 10 micrometers and smaller.

It can usually be referred to as the sum of or mixture of solid and liquid particles suspended in air. These particles can be both organic and inorganic. Some of these particles are:

  • Dust
  • Pollen
  • Soot
  • Smoke

Many of these particles can be hazardous.The size of these particles can range from 1µm to 10µm.
