By when is the Plastic EPR becoming mandatory in India?

EPR stands for Extended Producer Responsibility.

While the concept of Plastic EPR was introduced under the Plastic Waste Management Rules (2016), the formal frameworks were introduced only in 2020 with the draft EPR policy released in October 2021.

However, new guidelines were introduced on 16th February 2022 with expanded extended producer responsibility (EPR) program that were effective immediately.
