With the rising water crisis in the country, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has announced the commencement of Jal Shakti Abhiyan on 1st July, 2019.

Jal Shakti Abhiyan is a campaign designed to help conserve and secure water and water resources in India.

The campaign will actively run through participation of civilians in two phases focusing on water stressed districts and blocks.

Phase I – 1st July, 2019 to 15th September, 2019 – Monsoon Season

Phase II – 1st October, 2019 to 30th November, 2019 – Mainly for states receiving the North East retreating Monsoons

There have been guidelines issued under Jal Shakti Abhiyan that highlight the following methods or practices for water conservation and security:

Rainwater Harvesting
Reuse of Treated Waste Water
Rejuvenation of Urban Water Bodies
Plantation
