Embedded Carbon Emissions are carbon emissions that are emitted during the procurement, processing and distribution of goods.
In other words, the greenhouse gas emissions that are released into the atmosphere due to the procurement of raw materials, processing of raw materials into manufactured goods and transportation of goods to the end consumers is known as Embedded Carbon Emissions.
Embedded Carbon Emissions can also be referred to as Embodied Carbon Emissions.
They are usually expressed as CO₂e MT/MT ( Carbon Dioxide Equivalent in Metric Tonnes per Metric Tonnes of goods).
How embedded emissions are measured, verified and reported for each covered good is explained on the CBAM Solutions page.
